It’s all about promoting yourself. Getting yourself seen. Being in the right place at the right time with the right piece of art. I have worked so hard to get my name out there but when I take a step back I can clearly see that with so many artists doing the same thing, I have barely scratched the surface. I would like to think that someday I will be able to make a comfortable living as an artist but I know for sure that it will be no easy ride!

I did actually sell a few pieces but I found it to be a bargain basement. Now it would just de-value my work so I would say if you were an artist as a hobby then maybe Ebay would be the way to go but if you were serious about being a successful artist I would stay well clear of it.

I went to see the exhibition and I was amazed by some of the local talent. My entry wasn’t what you would normally find in a museum, however it was well received. Kind of half way between traditional and abstract. I hope the exhibition was successful as it really deserves to be and hopefully it generated some money for Bolton Museum as it’s such a lovely place.

The first one is “If You Cut Me” which is my most influencial piece since I started (not sure how that one will be received as it’s quite controversial! The other is a painting of Bolton Parish Church which hopefully will be accepted because it is about Bolton.

I was bid up to £500 but I didn’t want to let it go. It was a great experience and the first of many competitions I will be entering.
