Cow paintings seem to be very popular at the moment, so here is a few that I have created:
As I have found out in my time as a professional artist, becoming a successful artist doesn’t just happen for those who are gifted enough. It’s all about promoting yourself. Getting yourself seen. Being in the right place at the right time with the right piece of art. I have worked so hard to get my name out there but when I take a step back I can clearly see that with so many artists doing the same thing, I have barely scratched the surface. I would like to think that someday I will be able to make a comfortable living as an artist but I know for sure that it will be no easy ride!
This is my lovely new art studio facing Bolton Parish Church in Bolton town centre. It’s very spacious and I feel totally relaxed here.

Just to let everyone know I am now painting in my new studio in Bolton town centre next to Bolton Parish Church. I will be concentrating on acrylic on canvas paintings from now on. If anyone would like to come and visit my studio to see my collection feel free to contact me on my website or rus-art@hotmail.co.uk
I will be updating my blogs more often from now on to let you know about upcoming exhibitions, gallery entries, art fairs/markets, and art competitions that I enter in 2012/13.
I got a great comment about my work here. Im really proud.

Let me know what you think.
When I started painting in the UK, I looked at ebay as a possible route for selling my work. I did actually sell a few pieces but I found it to be a bargain basement. Now it would just de-value my work so I would say if you were an artist as a hobby then maybe Ebay would be the way to go but if you were serious about being a successful artist I would stay well clear of it.

I entered a painting of Bolton Parish Church into Bolton Museum and it was accepted. I went to see the exhibition and I was amazed by some of the local talent. My entry wasn’t what you would normally find in a museum, however it was well received. Kind of half way between traditional and abstract. I hope the exhibition was successful as it really deserves to be and hopefully it generated some money for Bolton Museum as it’s such a lovely place.
Do you prefer acrylic, oil or watercolour? I tend to mostly use acrylics. I have used watercolour a few times. I just wanted to know what was the most popular.
For artists who live in Bolton or have any connection to Bolton, this is an exciting time as they get the chance to exhibit their work in the Bolton Museum in an open art exhibition. They also are in with a chance of winning £500! I have entered 2 paintings. The first one is “If You Cut Me” which is my most influencial piece since I started (not sure how that one will be received as it’s quite controversial! The other is a painting of Bolton Parish Church which hopefully will be accepted because it is about Bolton.
I entered The Bath Prize art competition this year and got a lot of praise for my painting. I was bid up to £500 but I didn’t want to let it go. It was a great experience and the first of many competitions I will be entering. The next one will be The Derby Open and my local town The Bolton Open Art competition.
